Praia da Martinhal is emerging as a very exclusive destination as development spreads west and the arrival of some luxury properties have started to appear in the surrounding areas. Just along from the quaint fishing harbour of Baleeira, this long curve of golden sand is a beautiful beach to spend the day on. You will find a couple of lovely beach bars and if you are having a day out to the 'end of the world' Martinhal offers the perfect stop for a refreshing dip and a spot of lunch. Visitors to this beach enjoy finding a pocket of privacy and it is one of the more quiet bays even in the peak season. The surrounding landscape of this beach is very contrasting, on the land it is backed by a marshy natural lagoon, out to see is a tiny island, and the white sands seem to appear in between a break in the rugged cliffs in this area.
